Empower and support stroke and cancer survivors

Supporting survivors in every step towards recovery

Mission

To empower and support stroke and cancer survivors by providing access to holistic care, including physical and occupational therapy, survivor day care centers, and personalized guidance on navigating the path of survivorship. Through community engagement, wellness programs, and fundraising initiatives, we strive to offer a second chance at life for survivors and their families.

Founder

Samantha N. Garcia is a Los Angeles native with 14 years of experience as an insurance professional. Throughout her career, she has worked with private commercial insurance agencies and, most recently, a leading corporate insurance brokerage, managing global accounts and major nonprofit organizations. Inspired by her personal experience as a caregiver for her mother, a stroke and cancer survivor, Samantha’s passion for giving back grew into a mission. This led her to found The 2nd Chance Project, a nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting stroke and cancer survivors. Through this foundation, Samantha is committed to providing the essential tools and resources that make the journey of survivorship more manageable and empowering for those in need.

Our Goals

Empowering Stroke and Cancer Survivors on Their Path to Recovery

At The 2nd Chance Project, our mission is to support stroke and cancer survivors on their journey to recovery and well-being. Our long-term vision includes establishing dedicated support centers, starting with our first location on the west side.

Creating Community and Engagement Through Daycare and Therapy Services

These centers will offer scheduled daycare services, featuring group activities designed to foster community and engagement among survivors. As we grow, we aim to provide onsite physical and occupational therapy, leveraging the expertise of professional therapists and student volunteers.

Navigating Recovery: Insurance Guidance and Comprehensive Support for Survivors

Our commitment extends beyond physical recovery; we strive to guide survivors through the complexities of insurance processes and the logistical challenges that follow their medical journey. At The 2nd Chance Project, we believe in giving survivors the resources and support they need for a brighter, healthier future.
